Structural Biology
To understand the molecular mechanisms of protein function it is necessary to determine the three-dimensional structure of the protein. In MMI, Dr. Hazes is structural biologist using protein crystallography to obtain very detailed experimental structures. MMI has excellent facilities to grow crystals, collect X-ray diffraction patterns, structure determination and structure analysis.
Publicly available structures can also be downloaded from the protein data bank and analysed visually or computationally. If you need a hand, feel free to contact Dr. Hazes.
